YVR – International Terminal Building

YVR – International Terminal Building

Bush, Bohlman & Partners have been the structural engineers on the International Terminal Building (ITB) at Vancouver Airport since the conceptual design for the structural scheme in 1993.  This large structural steel building has had two major expansions since then and an additional two major expansions have been designed.  In all of these phases, Bush, Bohlman & Partners have worked closely with the Architect to produce an aesthetically-pleasing and economical exposed structural steel system.  During the West Chevron Expansion we prepared a unique design for the aquatic theme area using a series of long-span, radiating, hollow structural section trusses.  All of the phases have been built under very tight deadlines using phased contracts with the structural steel tendered before the completion of architectural drawings.  Bush, Bohlman & Partners developed a reputation for having clear structural drawings and for rapid responses and solutions to field issues when they arose.
