North Fraser Pretrial

North Fraser Pretrial

This project involved the construction of a completely new pretrial holding cell facility. The project had a high security component including cells for inmates of various risk categories. The project was designed and built through a project management/construction management delivery method.

Bush, Bohlman & Partners were the structural consultants on this $35 million facility constructed in 2001. The facility is unique in having 3-storey cell pods. The facility was constructed on engineered fill on a site with very challenging foundation conditions. The materials used were cast-in-place concrete, reinforced masonry, 200 mm deep concrete filled steel deck sections, tilt-up concrete, and structural steel. The secure units were constructed of reinforced masonry.
